This day was epic. A car stopped and said there are a few elephant around the corner, which we straight away saw them crossing the road. Then when we arrived at a water hole and they came in non stop for about an hour. They were playing, and i think sometime fighting as they would blow their noses like a trumpet which i believe can mean they are getting aggressive. Then towards the end the Hippos were getting uncomfortable so they would send out the boss to scare them off. The Elephants did not seem intimidated one bit!!!
Being overseas for so long the one thing i was looking forward to was coming home to was Garie Beach. And because i pretty much started shooting photos a year ago overseas, I’ve never had the chance to shoot photos at home until now! When the sun is out the water is cristal clear, and i recon all the green from land reflects into the ocean bring out some crazy colours for photography.
This is a shot of my good mate Dan Hayllar who i traveled around the world with for 2 years in 06/07. After all the good times over the years, we still get so pumped from getting shacked together!
This is from a slab a friend of mine took me to in South Africa. Apparently its still one of those secret spot that not a lot of people surf. I surfed it the day before and it was a bit bigger with a rip but insane when you got the right one. This was late in the arvo the following day, with sharks on my mind we went for it and it was hard work to say the least. So much current pulling me from the zone, so hard to link up with the boys. But this ended up being one of my favourite empty shots I’ve got. Notice there is not one bit of spray in the shot and the foam ball looks like its about to unleash on me! This was a perfect end from a surfing point of view…..
